Playing chess — online, against the engine, and offline
Last updated: 07/28/20261 min read
HungKings supports every way to play, and verifies the entire game on the server so results are always fair.
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Real-time online | Skill-based matchmaking (Glicko-2 rating), many time formats from Bullet to Classical; clocks measured against server timestamps. |
| Against the engine | AI opponents at many levels for practice; engine games don't count toward reward points (keeping the anti-cheating pillar intact). |
| Offline | Two people on one device, or play when the network drops (PWA), syncing automatically once you're back online. |
| In-game video | The two players can turn on their webcams to see each other (with mutual consent, no recording) — real person against real person. |
Anti-cheating is a pillar. When a game ends, the server rebuilds the entire sequence of moves to verify it; points and rating are issued only from verified games. This is a matter of survival when the rewards are real gifts.
At HungKings, a game only "counts" once the server has checked every move for itself — it never trusts data from the player's side.
